Embark on a creative odyssey on Lord Howe Island with our small group watercolour workshop, an immersive experience tailored for art enthusiasts seeking to master the mesmerising art of seascapes, landscapes and atmospheric skies, mostly painting and sketching in our travel sketchbooks. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lord Howe's coastal wonders, this en plein air workshop promises to elevate your watercolour and travel sketching skills.

Led by accomplished artist Cheryl Bruce, the workshop invites participants to delve into learning the techniques to render the ebb and ﬂow of waves, the dance of light on water, and the ever-changing drama of Lord Howe's skies.

Whether you're a seasoned watercolourist or a novice eager to explore the medium, this workshop oﬀers a nurturing environment to hone your craft. Join us for a week of inspiration, creativity, and camaraderie, as you immerse yourself in art amidst the natural wonders of Lord Howe Island.

Paint en plein air

With its pristine beaches, lush forests, and majestic mountains, every corner of Lord Howe Island provides endless inspiration for artists as we paint on site on loose watercolour sheets and our sketchbook..

This is a unique opportunity to capture the island's stunning landscapes, diverse flora, and tranquil seascapes in a personal and intimate way.

Travel sketch

Engage in a sketchbook practice while exploring the island encourages keen observation, and focus on capturing the essence of a scene rather than striving for perfection.

Through our sketchbook, participants not only document their experiences but also create lasting memories infused with their own artistic interpretation, fostering a deeper appreciation for the places they have experienced.

Support and friendship

Along with the support of a nurturing tutor, painting retreats provided a wonderful opportunity for the group to bond over their shared passion and offer each other support and encouragement.

Deposit of $500 per person due within 7 days of bookings. Final payment due 75 days prior to departure. Valid for travel 20-27 February 2027. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Information correct as at 19 March 2026.

Participants must have an average level of fitness to join this tour, as you spend a lot of time exploring remote areas, with uneven ground and you must be able to walk approximately a 20- 25 min distance.
