PAINTING RETREAT · TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA
Lose yourself
in watercolour
& wild beauty
with artist Cheryl Bruce at The Enclave
17 – 23 January 2027 Winnaleah, Tasmania
Imagine waking each morning with a paintbrush in hand,
surrounded by breathtaking Tasmanian landscapes — learning to see flowers the way an artist does, and finding your own painterly voice.

THE EXPERIENCE
Where loose & lively
meets luminous & deeply detailed
This retreat is for anyone who yearns to paint flowers with genuine feeling -from a single lush brushstroke to a fully realised botanical study. Over five days of guided painting with Cheryl, you’ll discover what watercolour truly can do in your hands.
We paint in the studio. We paint on location.
We sketch directly into our sketchbooks at living botanical sites - learning to capture the gesture and characteristic of a flower and it's growth pattern before it fades.

Loose & direct watercolour
Bold washes, happy accidents, the confidence of a single decisive stroke.
Detailed floral mastery
Layering translucent glazes to build depth, luminosity, and botanical precision.
Sketchbook painting on location
Capture living flowers in a botanic garden, responding to real light and ephemeral beauty. What you capture from life is often very different to your studio paintings.
Level up your skills for surface pattern design florals
Build a richer, more expressive floral vocabulary - flowers painted with nuance and variety, not formula.

OUR HOME FOR THE WEEK
A century-old home
in the heart of
wild Tasmania
The Enclave in Winnaleah is more than accommodation — it is an atmosphere. Timber floors, open fires, and a studio that feels like it was made for painting, spacious and light..
A small group means Cheryl genuinely knows your work and where you want to go. This is not just a workshop — it is a creative immersion designed and developed to build your skills.
The Enclave is a 10 room 10 bath hotel. Half of the bathrooms are internal ensuites and half are detached ensuites (across the hall - allocated privately for each room). Internal ensuites are allocated on a booking order basis.
